Let's Get to Know The Basics

Being a Software Engineer, I have always tinkered with the thought of building a web site that would help me better control my life when it comes to hot air balloons. Back in 2016 when I started, it wasn’t more than a year later when I realized I could use my abilities to create a system that would help me make my life easier when it came to ballooning.

I simply started building a program that helped me with on-line waivers. That would later grow into a Flight Manifest System which would allow customers to buy a ride, maintain that flight from purchase to completion, allowing me to communicate, schedule and view my flights. That grew into a system to help me register for events, allowing me to keep track of currency, documents and viewing my personal log book. Moving into two balloons, I quickly saw a need for a system to track expiration dates on tanks, licenses, annuals, flight reviews, hoses and so many more things. The las thought as our crew list grew was managing the crew. Creating a system to communicate with crew, where they available or not, assigning them positions and keeping track of flight status was the last step. Of course, there is so much more along the way, but this is a good start.

I am looking for several individuals or companies to help in testing the site. I would enjoy a couple of balloonists to help improve the site, look for bugs and prepare it to be rolled out to others who could benefit from this. What is Flight Manifest?

Flight Manifest: The system can be used to allow customers to purchase a flight using credit card or any allocation of funds such as Zelle and/or Venmo. The passenger purchasing the flight will enter all information as well as all the passengers and their weights. The system will automatically know what to charge the passenger dealing with kids and discounts for volume of passengers. Once purchased, you will be notified by email and/or text. You can create your own flight certificate which will pre-fill their name, dates and payment status and then send it to the customer by email or text. You can then schedule the flight from purchased, to scheduled or tentative. You will receive an email/text the day prior to the flight as a reminder with information such as beverage and other options. You can then send the passenger electronic waivers which they will sign on line if possible for them. You will be notified that the waiver is completed. At any time, the system will allow you to communicate with the customer by making it easy to call and/or text the customer. You can create pre-filled messages to make it easier to text and email. After the flight, you can move the passenger to completed and send them an email/text to allow them to find your social media links to do ratings on your performance. If you provide a video or photographs, you can also load the media into the cloud and then send a link to the passengers to give them access. Flight Manifest also keeps track of passenger weight totals and you can quickly see if your balloon system is within the envelope.
